Original Baroque or Period-Style Furniture?
Genuine Baroque Originals date from the 17th and 18th centuries and are rare and expensive. Most of what is traded today as Baroque furniture is period-style furniture: made in the 19th and 20th centuries after Baroque models, often of excellent quality, for example from Italian workshops. For every piece, we state what we know: period, origin, material. Those who prefer something simpler will find Biedermeier and Gründerzeit under Antiques .

Frequently Asked Questions About Baroque Furniture
Do Baroque furniture pieces suit a modern home?
As a statement piece, yes, very well. A Baroque mirror above a simple sideboard or a Baroque armchair in a white room are classic combinations used by interior designers.
What is the difference between Baroque and Rococo?
Rococo is the later, more playful phase of the Baroque: lighter, more asymmetrical, with shell and foliate motifs. You will find both in this collection.
How do I care for gilded frames?
Only dust them with a dry cloth; never use water or cleaning products. Gold leaf and bole gilding cannot tolerate moisture.
Can a Baroque armchair be reupholstered?
Yes, this is common with period-style furniture. The description states whether a piece has its original upholstery or has been reupholstered.
