Live-edge walnut tables: solid wood dining tables with natural edges
A live-edge table shows the tree it comes from: The edge of the tabletop remains as it grew. At Hauptstadt Möblerei, you will find live-edge tables made from premium walnut, as dining tables, conference tables, and coffee tables in various lengths. Each tabletop is unique, with its own grain and contours, kiln-dried and oiled, on steel or wooden frames.
Live-edge tables by type
- Dining table with live edge: A continuous or joined walnut tabletop, 180 to 300 cm, for six to twelve people.
- Live-edge table with epoxy resin: Cracks and knot holes filled with resin or the edge sealed with resin. See Epoxy resin tables.
- Live-edge coffee table: Low walnut tabletop on a steel frame.
- Conference and office table: Large formats for meeting rooms and reception areas.
- Table frames: Steel in black, as X, U, A, or spider frames, also solid wood.
Premium walnut: what that means
We use only first-grade walnut: continuous planks without defects, even grain, kiln-dried and with solid thickness. The surface is sanded and oiled, while the live edge is hand-debarked and smoothed without changing its shape.

Frequently asked questions about live-edge tables
Does a solid wood tabletop warp?
Not with kiln-dried wood and a stable frame. Walnut is dimensionally stable; small seasonal movements are normal and accounted for.
How do I care for the table?
Wipe with a slightly damp cloth, apply a thin coat of oil once or twice a year, and use trivets for hot pots. Scratches can be sanded out.
Which chairs go with a live-edge table?
Cantilever chairs with Vienna caning, wooden armchairs, and vintage chairs as well: See Modern dining chairs and Vintage dining chairs.
How long should the table be?
Allow 60 cm per person, with a little more space at the ends. For six people, 180 to 200 cm; for eight, 240 cm; for ten, from 280 cm.
